David Sedaris is one of America’s preeminent humorists. He is a master of satire and one of today’s most observant writers. 

 

Beloved for his personal essays and short stories, Sedaris is the author of The New York Times bestsellers Barrel Fever, Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and Calypso. His most recent book, Happy-Go-Lucky, debuted at number one on The New York Times bestseller list. The audio version of Happy-Go-Lucky, written and narrated by Sedaris, won the 2023 Audie Award. His first children’s book, Pretty Ugly (TOON Books, February 27, 2024), has illustrations by Ian Falconer and received a ‘star’ review from Kirkus.

 

Sedaris has been nominated for five Grammy Awards® for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His audio recordings include David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure and David Sedaris Live at Carnegie Hall.

 

There are more than 16 million copies of his books in print, and they have been translated into 32 languages. He has been awarded the Terry Southern Prize for Humor, Thurber Prize for American Humor, and Jonathan Swift International Literature Prize for Satire and Humor. In March 2019, he was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2020, the New York Public Library voted Me Talk Pretty One Dayone of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years.

Valley Metro Light Rail operates 18–22 hours per day, seven days a week and stops every 12–20 minutes along the 28-mile line linking Phoenix to neighboring communities and attractions. There is a dedicated stop on the Valley Metro Light Rail at the Phoenix Convention Center, making travel to and from the area convenient, especially to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

​Directions to Phoenix Convention Center from the Airport: Take the free PHX Sky Train from Level 3 of Terminal 4 to the 44th Street PHX Sky Train Station. From there, take the elevator or escalator down to the platform of the 44th St/Washington Valley Metro Rail stop. If you are traveling from Terminals 2 or 3, take the free black and silver PHX Airport Shuttle to Terminal 4 and then proceed to Level 3 to connect with the PHX Sky Train. The PHX Sky Train and Airport shuttles are designed for travelers with luggage and run seven days a week, 24 hours a day. ​
